Maya Mardani
Volunteer/Intern
I began volunteering at Bani Family Law in 2024 as part of my high school’s co-op program, which worked similarly to an internship. I’ve continued helping at the firm even after my program ended. In September, I will be in my second-year majoring in Chemistry at Western University.
My interest in family law stems from my passion for being able to aid and change a community. I have always been particularly concerned for people who find themselves in compromised positions, unable to advocate for themselves. Over my time knowing friends, as well as volunteering in social centres for children, I’ve seen how often people can be disadvantaged due to familial conflicts. Families are the center of our lives and are rife with unique dynamics and obligations. That is what makes familial conflicts so pressing, emotional, and complex. At their most severe, these issues require real solutions, with permanent results, and I believe family law is what grants people these solutions. I want to be able to aid people in the future in a way that is both objective and compassionate.
In my free time I enjoy reading and baking, and spending time with my own family and friends.
